It gives me immense pleasure to welcome you to the Department of Arabic, University of Kashmir. Since its inception, the Department has remained committed to the pursuit of academic excellence, research, and dissemination of knowledge in the field of Arabic language and literature.

The Arabic language, being one of the oldest and richest languages of the world, holds a unique place in fostering intercultural dialogue, understanding, and scholarly inquiry. Recognizing this, our Department offers a wide array of academic programs at postgraduate, and Ph.D. levels, along with various skill-based and value-added courses designed to meet the contemporary needs of students and society, as per NEP 2020.

Our Department has privilege of having a team of dedicated and highly qualified faculty members, actively engaged in teaching, research, and publication in diverse areas such as Classical and Modern Arabic Literature, Literary Criticism, Translation Studies, Arabic Linguistics, and Indo-Arabic Literature. In addition to regular teaching, we strive to create a dynamic academic environment through seminars, workshops, extension lectures, and interactive sessions, aimed at nurturing critical thinking, creativity, and research aptitude among our students.
